Welcome to my blog

My name is Neil and this is my Universe...

Collectively known as the Neilyverse. I love watching films and Tv drama series. My favourites push the boundaries of the medium, others just follow a test audiences idea of what should happen. I prefer lots of WTF moments or genuine touching moments that creep up on you. I think i expect too much sometimes lol.

A stream of mysterious murders are carried out in a small region of rural South Korea, and it is up to the bumbling lazy sergeant to discover the cause. Unfortunately for him the problem comes to visit him and the love of his life, his daughter. At two and ¾ hours this film was too long. The far east school of acting was in full effect with grown men screaming like girls at the slightest problem. Towards the end I just wanted it to finish as it seemed never ending and not releasing clues to what was going on fast enough. 5.0/10

Selene (the luscious Kate Bekinsale) must team up the last of the Vampires that exiled her in order to fight the new Lycan (Werewolf) leader who is hell bent on killing them all and drinking her blood. I really enjoyed “Underworld: Awakenings” but for this outing they seemed to have dug up a previous script and it is feeling far too familiar and bland. Whatever ! 5.0/10

Matthew McConaughey, as Kenny Wells a mining prospector who is down on his look, and his search for billions in gold in Indonesia. This is loosely based on actual events but the original company and characters were Canadian. A fantastic drama that will have you routing for the heavy drinking Kenny as he swims through the big money corporation sharks. A highly recommended watch. 7.1/10

Tom Hanks runs about Rome and the Vatican trying to stop an apocalypse whilst being pursued by subversive element. Probably the weakest of the three? Dan Brown films. It felt like “National Treasure” does Rome. Bit of historic art-chase-bit of history-chase Etc. The concussion that Hanks got at the start of the film seemed to go on too long to. I swear I was having visions at one point. 5.0/10

Do you like snowboarding? Do you like Zombie Movies? Do you like black comedies? If so then this is for you. I will keep the synopsis short...Zombies attack a Ski resort. This is a very cheesy and cheap movie with loads of stereotypical plot scenes but it was gory and mildly amusing. A no thinker movie that will delight those people that like a so shit its good comedy. 5.2/10

The re-boot of the epic 1959 classic film which starred Charlton Heston. Ben Hur is an affluent and powerful Jew that after a Roman occupation is wrongly accused of being involved with an assassination plot. After being incarcerated he must then fight his way back to avenge his family. This feels like a cheapo version of the original sponsored by some Christian fund management fund. The Jesus bits felt like they had been patched on to appease some one that wasn’t me. A couple of good action scenes (Chariot race / slave ship) were the best of a bad bunch. Ben Hur came across as someone that needed a slap in the face and had no charisma at all. 4.5/10

After an amazing trailer this highly anticipated Marvel superhero movie could have been better. The story is that after letting a powerful sorceress unleash a powerful end of the world baddie it is up to the Government to amass a team of villains to go on a suicide mission to stop the apocalypse. I think the re shoots and the re editing detracted from the back ground stories but what you have left is still a nice twist on the usual super hero bollocks. Margot Robbie steals the show as Harley Quinn and has all the best lines. 6.0/10
