Welcome to my blog

My name is Neil and this is my Universe...

Collectively known as the Neilyverse. I love watching films and Tv drama series. My favourites push the boundaries of the medium, others just follow a test audiences idea of what should happen. I prefer lots of WTF moments or genuine touching moments that creep up on you. I think i expect too much sometimes lol.

Simon Pegg is bestowed with God like powers by an Alien committee who are testing Earth to see if they deserve to be saved from destruction. Though what he does with the “gift” is quite funny I felt he could have done so much more and been less PC and more twisted and funny. The CGI is done on the cheap and you will have to get over Simon Pegg playing the same comedy character he always plays but it passes 90 minutes relatively painlessly. 5.5/10

Simon Pegg stars in this London based Rom com. A single young woman gets mistaken for a blind date and decides to run with it until it goes too far. Quite a safe little adventure, that never really, breaks any boundaries. 5/10

From the team behind “Bridesmaids” this film is a different Rom-Com. It follows a woman who’s sexual relationships are quite emotional bankrupt. Look out for the great cameo from Tilda Swinton as the “S-nuff” magazine editor. 6.8/10

An old flame meets her ex-boyfriend in an Irish Airport, where he works in the tourist information, and has one night out with him as she waits on standby for her flight. A pleasant film that doesn’t go too risky and ends like you thought a Rom-light comedy would. 5.0/10

A young girl who is developed into an international assassin from birth yearns for a “normal” family life and so fakes her own death to experience “College” life. A very cheesy twist on the loner trying to fit in at school film. If you like Game of thrones then you might like her co-star and Nemesis ‘Sansa Stark’. 5.1/10

A British rom-com, in which two childhood friends keep missing each other, in the relationship game. To be fair I did enjoy this more than I thought. I didn’t really like the middle class love interest but Rosie was cute, if a bit too middle class for her “family”. If you like a Rom-com then this one is quite good. 6.0/10
