Welcome to my blog

My name is Neil and this is my Universe...

Collectively known as the Neilyverse. I love watching films and Tv drama series. My favourites push the boundaries of the medium, others just follow a test audiences idea of what should happen. I prefer lots of WTF moments or genuine touching moments that creep up on you. I think i expect too much sometimes lol.

A scientist is called in to help Special Forces in Moldova to fight invisible killers. An interesting and well filmed effort from the Netflix studio. Brilliant effects and good direction are slightly let down by a supernatural plot. Worth a evening entertainment if you like the Sci-fi/horror cross over idea. 5.8/10

A stream of mysterious murders are carried out in a small region of rural South Korea, and it is up to the bumbling lazy sergeant to discover the cause. Unfortunately for him the problem comes to visit him and the love of his life, his daughter. At two and ¾ hours this film was too long. The far east school of acting was in full effect with grown men screaming like girls at the slightest problem. Towards the end I just wanted it to finish as it seemed never ending and not releasing clues to what was going on fast enough. 5.0/10

Selene (the luscious Kate Bekinsale) must team up the last of the Vampires that exiled her in order to fight the new Lycan (Werewolf) leader who is hell bent on killing them all and drinking her blood. I really enjoyed “Underworld: Awakenings” but for this outing they seemed to have dug up a previous script and it is feeling far too familiar and bland. Whatever ! 5.0/10

Do you like snowboarding? Do you like Zombie Movies? Do you like black comedies? If so then this is for you. I will keep the synopsis short...Zombies attack a Ski resort. This is a very cheesy and cheap movie with loads of stereotypical plot scenes but it was gory and mildly amusing. A no thinker movie that will delight those people that like a so shit its good comedy. 5.2/10

A bunch of young adults decide to break into a blind man’s house as he is rumoured to have cash inside. Unfortunately he is not such an easy mark for them. A great horror/thriller that is claustrophobic and well directed. A good collection of twists keep the heart and mind racing. 7.0/10

A man who has been kept in a dark cell for his entire life is mysteriously released and has to deal with and discover life outside his zone. A great idea with some social experiment twists that unfortunately are hampered by poor pacing and an art house feel. Both these factors seem to distance the viewer from the story. 3.9/10

Noami Rapace (Sherlock Holmes/ Girl with the dragoon tattoo original) is abducted and forced to face her darkest fears in order to reach the rupture. A horror movie with a fresh twist on the usually abduction / saw / torture genre. Though it looks as though its budget wasn’t massive it is still adequate. More of a good “Twilight Zone” episode than a blockbuster. 5.9/10
