Welcome to my blog

My name is Neil and this is my Universe...

Collectively known as the Neilyverse. I love watching films and Tv drama series. My favourites push the boundaries of the medium, others just follow a test audiences idea of what should happen. I prefer lots of WTF moments or genuine touching moments that creep up on you. I think i expect too much sometimes lol.

A cryogenically frozen passenger is awoken early aboard an interstellar journey to a new world only 30 years in. He has the entire ship to discover but after a while his boredom and loneliness cause him to revive an attractive female companion. A rom-com, with a sci-fi twist , with Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence. To be fair I think I would have woken her too. A good film that has the right mix of all its attributes. 7.0/10

For a period drama this isn’t bad. I would describe it as “pride and prejudice…………..and zombies”. The zombies and action add to the plot but stay in the background but add a nice twist to the tale. I wish this was a “15 or 18” certificate rather than a “12” as due to this most of the violence is off screen and implied. This could have been better but by no means bad. 5.7/10

The much hyped story of an American DJ / producer is not as bad as I was expecting but lacks the excesses of the "wolf of wall street" and the comedy of "project x". The music was not as bad as I thought it was going to be and Zac Efron dj his tune at the end looked like he was giving birth to a child, but the high light was Emily Ratajkowski...hot. 5.3/10

Cara Delevingne (the super model) does a suprisingly good job in this teen romance. A lads crazy and adventurous childhood pal threatens to turn his safe life upside down when she goes missing and he must follow the clues which are outside his comfort zone, in order to find her. A pleasant journey of coming of age love. 6.0/10

Based on the best selling mum-porn book, that follows the relationship between Graduate Anastasia & Billionaire Mr Grey. Though it’s not very graphic or that erotic it wasn’t that bad a watch. I have never read the book and some of the dialogue is sparse and not particularly engaging the director has made quite a good viewing experience. My Favourite line “No anal fisting”. 5.7/10

A weird and quirky film from the 1970’s in which an affluent young adult spends his time faking his death until he finds friendship and love with a pensioner. A rebellious movie that is bonkers in places. It also goes into a whimsical dialogue at times too. I would have thought it would have finished two minutes earlier but then again it is Harold! 5.5/10
