Welcome to my blog

My name is Neil and this is my Universe...

Collectively known as the Neilyverse. I love watching films and Tv drama series. My favourites push the boundaries of the medium, others just follow a test audiences idea of what should happen. I prefer lots of WTF moments or genuine touching moments that creep up on you. I think i expect too much sometimes lol.

After watching “Raiders of the lost ark” 1981 a group of children armed with a video camera, and all the time that summer break has given them, decide to remake the film scene for scene. This documentary tells the tale of their efforts and the task of completing the final scene that they were missing 30 years later. A great tale of fan love and heart warming life journeys. 7.0/10

Based on the true story of a company of Irish UN troops peacekeeping in sixties Africa. As the country falls into deeper unrest they are besieged by an overwhelming force. Once the battle ensues the film goes into a full action movie with some great set scenes. A good effort for a Netflix funded film. 6.3/10

A documentary that explains that for the last 40 years you have been living in a lie and now that lie is taken as reality despite all proof and evidence against it. Covering things like Colonel Gadaffi, Donald Trump, Facebook, UFOs and much more. No conspiracy theories just facts explained to you. Depressingly accurate. Highly recommended. 9.6/10

Another true story account, this time about the first Conscientious Objector to receive the Medal of honour whilst serving with the Army in the Second World War in the Pacific theatre of operations. A great cast do a sterling job when the film finally kicks in after an hour of setting up Andy Garfield’s lead character. From then on it is blood and guts until the end. A worthwhile watch if you can get over the religious / faith overtones. However I feel that this made the man so I overlooked it. 6.8/10

Based on the true story of the Eco-disaster caused by the ‘Deepwater Horizon’ drilling platform, operated by BP, in the Gulf of Mexico. A very well paced drama, again with Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. I had read that his role was inflated when compared to the accounts of real life witnesses but it still makes for a good watch. 7.0/10

The dramatisation of the Boston marathon bombing and the hunt over the next few days for those responsible. I found it viewable but not incredible. I discovered a few facts about the manhunt that I didn’t know so to be fair I did get something out of it. Starring Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. 5.9/10
